Hidalgo, Texas — Justin Quenneville (0-4-4) and Nicklas Lindberg (2-0-2) led the way for the Corpus Christi Rayz as they blew out the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-2 Wednesday night at the Dodge Arena. Dennis Maxwell added his 12th goal of the season, while Josh Garbutt added his seventh for

The Rayz pulled ahead of the Bees with Lindberg’s first of the night at 10:54 of the middle stanza. Jay Latulippe followed up at 13:21 to give the Rayz a two-goal lead, but Maxwell’s power play tally at 17:43 brought the Bees within a goal. Corpus regained the two-goal advantage 21 seconds later on Adam Powell’s 14th of the season.
Corpus added two goals in the third, one by Derek Smith at 3:36, and Lindberg’s second at 5:15. That goal came while the Rayz were short handed.
Jason Tapp picked up his 22nd win in net with 49 saves, while David Lemanowicz suffered the loss with 45 saves.

The teams combined for a franchise-record 102 shots on goal…Rio’s 51 shots were the most this season and only three short of the franchise mark (54)…Garbutt returned to the lineup after missing the previous five with an injury…Nick Warriner was helped off the ice late in the third after an opponent’s stick apparently got lodged in his blade and brought him to the ice.
