By admin | March 7, 2008

Laredo, Texas — Andrew Desjardins bagged a hat trick while he and Alex Goupil both recorded their 20th goals of the season as the Laredo Bucks defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 5-1 Friday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Laredo scored three times in the second period after the teams entered the middle stanza tied 1-1. Desjardins scored at 2:24 and 6:06 for his 18th and 19th goals of the season. Then, with Laredo’s David Walker off for tripping, Goupil stole the puck in the Rio end and lifted a backhander past Bees netminder Dave Lemanowicz to make it a 4-1 Laredo game. Desjardins completed the hat trick at the 17:48 mark of the third.

Travis Banga scored Rio’s only 16:41 into the first period after Goupil gave Laredo a 1-0 lead just 59 seconds into the game.

John Ceci turned aside 20 shots for his sixth win of the season, while Dave Lemanowicz made 44 saves in net for the Bees. Rio heads home to face Austin Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

Well not sure where this group was coming from tonight……21 shots versus 50!!!…..

Why is it with Lemanowicz the shots are so high??? Did the defense take a half of each period off?? Why did Bonar get a 5 major, 2 slash and a game misconduct??? Is he the CHL version of Chris Simon, Jordan Tootoo and the new Rio Grand goon??? Why did McNeil fight Penner??? Is he taking over for Big Snake until he returns??? If Voltera isn’t 100% to play the physical he needs to, why isn’t he resting his pain??? Big Snake seems to rest when he has pain. Does Laredo own the division because they throw caution ($$$$) to the wind???? Would an affiliation keep this team out of the cellar dwellar catagory???……….bblaahh, bbllaaahh, blah……

Men, come out hard against Austin tomorrow, just for the fun of it. I really do like this team. They just have to start believing in themselves and in their team.

Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen this year and from the idealism from die hard fans and, (I have to include) management, this team has never been given the opportunity to establish its own identity. From the get go, it was all about the past “FIVE at the HIVE”. Reality is today, the past is the past. Get over it!!!!!

it almost seems like the team has to much faith in dave because they seem to slack when he is in net. if thats the case keep aj in the rest of the year.
