Tulsa, Okla. — David Alexander Beauregard’s 4-on-4 goal at the 14:48 mark of the second period stood up as the game-winner as the Tulsa Oilers defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-3 Friday night at the Tulsa Convention Center.
Beauregard, Paul Kelly and Warren McCutcheon combined for 10 points, with Kelly bagging two goals and two assists for the Oilers.
Tulsa took a 2-0 in the first period on goals by Kelly and Beauregard, but Rio’s Travis Banga cut the lead in half with his 100th career goal at 14:14 of the first. The Bees evened things up in the second on Danny Lapointe’s fourth goal at 11:38, but Kelly and Beauregard responded take a 4-2 Tulsa lead into the third.
Mike Tumoi’s fifth goal at 6:20 of the third pulled Rio within one, but the Oilers held on for their fourth straight home win.
Tulsa’s special teams were the difference, with the Oilers going 3-for-8 on the power play while holding Rio 0-for-6 on the man advantage.
The Bees travel to Wichita on Saturday to face the Thunder at 7:05 p.m.
