RAGE 6, BEES 3
By admin | January 23, 2008
The Bees drew first blood with just 32 seconds elapsed in the first period on Rob Voltera’s 26th of the season, but the Rage answered with goals 1:06 apart by Brent Cullaton and Tyler Butler.
They increased their lead in the second period on Daymen Rycroft’s league-leading 30th goal at 2:54, but the Bees edged within a goal after Danny Lapointe banged home his first as a Bee after a scramble in front on Rage goalie Terry Dunbar at 5:01.
Rycroft responded with a shorthanded tally at 6:16 after a miscue in front of Dave Lemanowicz for his 31st of the season. That goal held up as the game-winner.
Danny Lapointe added a goal for the Bees in the third period, while Cullaton scored his second of the night on a shorthanded breakaway to close things out.

I am a Rocky Mountain Rage fan, but met one of the Killer Bees and was so impressed with him as a person that I decided to support the Killer Bees on 1/22/08 in Broomfield, CO. I even made a “Go Killer Bees” sign with the logo and taped it to the inside of the player’s bench.
Your team played an excellent game and I know you are proud of them. So far away and a visiting team, they gave it all they had for all three periods. I think there was 25-27 shots on the Rage goal.
I was concerned as your goalie took quite a hit. I hope he is OK, he did stay in the game and continue to make some excellent saves.

Now thats what I’m talking about! A good effort with better balanced line combo’s (except when the little line was put back together). It was Voltera’s best effort of the season imo. Quick strides and short shifts. The short shifts were key in keeping the energy up. Instead of Voltera floating for one and half minute shifts, he was working hard for 40-45 seconds. Looked like all the lines were short shifting which is a huge asset to the team. Its too bad the goal tending let them down tonight or they most likely would have won. Still a bit miffed why MacNeil isn’t playing and a couple of the other dmen are. There are a couple out there who just for the life of them can not make a first pass out of the zone or contain down low….as Bocchini would say….geeeesh.
Again good effort and if they play that way tonight and the goalie better, I predict a win.

Rycroft is Bencharski (using his mom’s name now…or some family name change thing to increase visibility - Mark Rycroft used to be with the Avalanche)…former Bee who followed a coach who apparently couldn’t coach. Cullaton (yes - the hated Cullaton from the real RGV-Laredo rivalry days) is doing very well with Tracy.
Sorry, it’s time for Fixter to start taking his lumps….like it or not, he’s the chief. There is zero excitement for this team - no rivalries - nothing really but below average hockey. Lot’s of good guys on the team - no doubt - but it’s boring as h*ll anymore.

And boring leads to less fans which lead to less season tickets…..and so on, and so on…..
Please don’t confuse good people (the entire Bees organization) with a good team or a good product. Yes, we’re supposed to be loyal and stand behind our team. I’ll stand behind the people…not the result.
Yes, Fixter is making moves. I applaud that effort completely. But it has to pay dividends or we all lose.

Stop being fair weather fans…stick with the team in a down season as well a good season! It’s very easy to sit and complain about what the team needs. Support OUR team!!
