BEES SHAKE UP ROSTER

By admin | January 14, 2008

Hidalgo, Texas — The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League today announced several transactions as the team heads into the All Star break and prepares for its upcoming six-game road trip.

The Killer Bees have traded goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten to the Mississippi RiverKings in exchange for defenseman Bernie Chmiel (shmeel) and acquired center Danny Lapointe from the Oklahoma City Blazers in exchange for future considerations. The Bees also waived forward Jared Silver.

Lapointe is a 6-foot-1, 200 pound Victoria, B.C., native who appeared in two games with the Blazers. The 23-year-old played the last two seasons with the University of Calgary and also spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Seattle, Portland, Prince George and Spokane. In 231 WHL games, he posted 92 points (29-63-92) and 360 PIM.

Chmiel, 25, appeared in 24 games for the RiverKings and collected three assists (0-3-3) and 15 PIM in 24 games. The 6-foot, 205-pound Pittsburgh native spent last season in the ECHL with Wheeling where he posted six points (2-4-6) and 28 PIM in 59 games. He played four years of NCAA Division 1 hockey at Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport, Conn., from 2002-06.

The Killer Bees begin a six-game road trip this Friday at North Richland Hills when they face the Texas Brahmas at 7:05 p.m.

A shake up is what we need. We do have some players that really do not want to be here. Weather? Teammates? Wins vs Losses? Salaries? Missing Home? Don’t really know personally and don’t really care. There is not a single I in TEAM and we need a TEAM not the I’s. Keep shaking it up! We are in the heading in the right direction and that is all we can do for now. Support the TEAM however you can whenever you can. Yes we have our favorites but there is an I in favorites. Good luck on the long road trip. Wish I could be there for all the games live. Have to settle for the big screen on the internet. Go BEES Go!!!!

Rumor has it AJ Bucchino is headed to the Rio Grande as the new goalie. If this is true a championship is insight.

I am so sick of hearing Fixter’s excuses and the comment “we need to get some wins before we get good” Well stupid-you CAN’T WIN if you are NOT GOOD- To Troy the owner- look at the seats each game- that should say it all- GET RID OF FIXTER- You can’t build team morale when they are traded constantly-and always worried about who’s head is next. Trading Van Nynattan was a HUGE Mistake- Maybe if the Defense was there doing it’s job the 2 goalies would look alot better- they can’t do it all. One more thing- they need to stop trying long across Ice passes- we are sick of seeing our team pass the puck to the other team - it’s like watching the 1st week of pee-wee hockey
