BEES ACQUIRE GARBUTT FROM TULSA

By admin | January 6, 2008

Hidalgo, Texas — The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Josh Garbutt from the Tulsa Oilers in exchange for defenseman Adam Blanchette.

Garbutt will be in the lineup today as the Bees visit Corpus Christi at 3 p.m.

The 23-year old native of Medicine Hat, Alberta, had 15 points (4-11-15) and 36 PIM in 27 games with the Oilers this season. Last season, he totaled 21 points (7-14-21) in 41 games split between New Mexico and Tulsa. The 5-foot-11, 208 pound  blueliner turned pro in 2005 with Victoria (ECHL) after playing five seasons of junior hockey.

Blanchette departs the Bees with three assists and 60 PIM.

How come the players that start getting noticed for their improved/good playing with the bees get traded?

I also noticed that Blanchette improved over last year. He always seemed to be hustling on the ice. Too bad he had to go. Part of the business though. The Herauf acquisition has been good for the team. We will see how this one turns out.

jc, I know you are just in love with the team, but do you really know anything about the hockey business. Trades are a part of it. And if changes are needed (and they are), then changes will be made. I think this is a good trade for the Bees by far. Tulsa may gain a favorite of yours, but we gain a better dman…imho.

Now if the coach could just teach and beat it into the defense to play one on one battles with grit and smarts plus teach them basic zone coverage and blah blah blah….I could go on and on, but will spare the detail.

Did you notice how well are opponents control the play with good passes, good one on one battles, good defense in general, good goaltending, whereas we run around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off in our own zone and never penetrate the offensive zone with control like knowing how to cycle the puck down low, blah blah blah….ok thats it for detail. There is more but it would take up to much space.

Either the players aren’t buying into the coach and not listening to his teaching or the coach just isn’t teaching the basics……He still hasn’t found the right combo’s to produce any offense. There is no evidence of cohesiveness as of yet. Sorry to hurt any Voltera fans, but the coach over plays him in situations he is not good at. The PP is the only thing I see the captain doing things semi right. Why he is on the PK I will never know…blah blah blah…Thats my bitch for the day.

And there is the never ending 2nd or 3rd period let down, a minute into the period after an intermission. Where is the leadership on this team to get the guys hyped up and ready to fly out with some grit and intesity. They come out flat time and time again after an intermission…blah blah blah. Thats my second bitch for the day.

    Roger OUT!

Hopefully this trade will work out as good as the Heruff trade has. We need to beef up the team with players who will work with the rest of the team and help us pick up some wins.

Fixter made the move to add some pop back on the D-Line…we have had no offensive Defense since we lost Medley. Great move on paper, lets see how it works out.
