GAME NOTES, JAN. 4 2008 — UPDATED

By admin | January 3, 2008

Well, Happy New Year everyone. It’s been rough goings lately on the ice so hopefully the turn of the calendar turns the team’s luck.

Regardless of wins and losses, we have an exciting weekend on tap and some great giveaway items. On Friday the first 1000 fans get 2×3 5th anniversary player flags courtesy of M&S Healthcare and Randy Crews CPA. Then on Saturday the first 1000 kids 12 and under get Killer Bees 5th Anniversary jerseys courtesy NEWSCHANNEL 5. Last time we did a youth jersey giveaway people were lined up two hours before the game. I know there are a ton of groups coming to the game Saturday, so if you’ve not bought tickets now is the time.

Of course, the team will wear 5th Anniversary jerseys and those will get auctioned after the game in the arena lounge. All the proceeds benefit Teach the Children.

Also coming up on Saturday is Sean Gillam jersey retirement night. The banner we will be raising with Sean’s No. 7 on it looks great and I’m sure it will be an emotional moment, so be sure to come out early. I’ve gotten to know Sean from rooming with him on the road and there are few people as deserving as him for this honor.

On a broadcast note, Saturday’s game will be a simulcast on the radio and TV. Normally, I do the TV call while either Dennis Scott or Alex Del Barrio (or both) does the radio. This Saturday we’ll be trying things a little different with both Dennis and I calling the action for both TV and radio. It’s an experiment so let us know what you think if you don’t make it out to the Arena.

By the way, I’ve gotten a bunch of emails saying “congrats” on the All Star Game nod. Thanks! It’ll be a lot of fun and I’m honored to represent the team and the league at the game along with three other great radio guys.

At any rate, here’s this weekend’s updated game notes .
