BUCKS 6, BEES 2

By admin | January 1, 2008

Laredo, Texas — The Laredo Bucks handed the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees a 6-2 loss on New Year’s Eve at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Rane Carnegie had the game-winner along with another goal and one assist. Rio’s winless streak extended to eight games (0-6-2) with the loss.

The Killer Bees took a 1-0 lead just 2:42 into the first period on Rob Voltera’s power play goal as he snuck by the Bucks defense and went in on a breakaway and sent a low shot past Bucks goalie Kevin Beech.

Laredo took responded with four straight goals by Chris Korchisnksi, Andrew Desjardins, Rane Carnegie and David Victor. Victor’s goal was his first as a pro, a tap-in on a setup from Korchinski and Summers with 24 seconds left in the seconf period.

Rio cut the lead in half on a goal creditied to Nick Warriner at 6:08 of the third, but Carnegie and Jame Hiebert scored to close things out for the Bucks.

The teams had combined for only four power play goals in five games prior to tonight, but both clubs went 5-for-14 on the man advantage tonight. Laredo went 3-for-5 while the Bees were 2-for-8.

Q: Why don’t our forwards score more goals?
A: They don’t have the opportunity to play against our defense.

WHO SAID THAT? The Bucks are not invincible? While I know what the outcome of the game is going to be before it starts, I have hope that maybe once or twice the BEES, (like Corpus) can catch the Bucks ASLEEP or perhaps HUNGOVER after an all night drinkig partry at WEIDLICH’S place.
