BEES EDGE SUNDOGS 4-3
By admin | December 7, 2007
Hidalgo, Texas—Lead by netminder David Lemanowicz the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees captured a very important home win, topping the Arizona Sundogs 4-3 Friday night at the Dodge Arena. Lance Herauf nabbed the game-winner early in the third to seal the deal for the Bees as they head out on a five-game road trip.
The teams combined for five goals in the first period. Arizona’s Mark Kolanos posted a power play tally at 16:37, but Rio fired back notching three unanswered goals to take the lead with just 4:08 left in the period. Ladislav Kouba scored in his first game as a Bee at 7:14. Adam Edinger followed him up 1:14 later and then Jeremy Van Hoof redirected home his second of the season at 15:52. Sundogs goaltender Andrew Gallant was replaced by Bill Zaniboni after Rio’s third goal, leading to Arizona making it a one-goal game at 18:39.
Neither team scored again until Sundogs Daniel Laperriere connected on the power play just 21 seconds into the third period to tie things up at three. Lance Herauf answered back 1:11 later for the eventual game-winner.
Lemanowicz had a stellar game in net for his fourth win of the season to snap an 0-4-1 stretch. He finished with 37 saves including 20 in the second period. Zaniboni, after replacing Gallant, suffered the loss with 10 saves.
The Bees play their next five games away from the Hive. They face off with the Austin Ice Bats at Chapparal Ice Center Saturday at 7:38 p.m.
