By admin | December 1, 2007

Austin, Texas — Henry Kuster scored in the seventh round of the shootout to take the extra point for Austin as the Ice Bats defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-2 Saturday night at Chaparall Ice Arena.

The Bees took a 1-0 lead at 4:39 of the first on Lance Herauf’s fourth goal of the season, but Austin responded in the second with goals by Ted Vandermeer at 7:46 and Jason Tessier at 13:26. Austin scored after killing off a full two minute 5-0n-3 Rio advantage.

Travis Banga tied things for the Bees at 7:58 of the third on the power play to force overtime.

The teams went scoreless through seven and a half rounds in the shoot out before Kuster finally broke through.

Dave Lemanowicz took the overtime loss despite making 38 saves. Miguel Beaudry made 34 saves, including seven in overtime, for the win.

The Bees play host to the Youngstown Steelhounds Sunday at 4 p.m.
