Hidalgo, Texas — Killer Bees goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten has been named the Central Hockey League’s Oakley Goalie of the Week for the period of Nov. 12-18.
The Killer Bees earned five of six possible points during the week with a record of 2-0-1, thanks in part to the strong play of the second-year netminder out of London, Ontario. He is the first Killer Bees player this season to win an individual award from the league.
Van Nynatten made 51 saves, including a franchise record 27 in the second period alone, in Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime loss at Laredo. He then posted back-to-back wins in games vs. Austin and Corpus Christi on Friday and Saturday.
For the week, Van Nynatten stopped 124 of 133 shots in 180 minutes played (.932 save percentage, 3.00 goals against average).
The Bees return to action this Wednesday night at Dodge Arena vs. New Mexico. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
