Weekend Thoughts

By admin | November 18, 2007

Well, for a team that couldn’t buy a goal thru the first 10 games of the season, 11 goals in two games is amazing. The addition of Lance Herauf is a big boost; what a sparkplug of a player.

Nice to see Jeff Van Nynatten pick up two wins. Sometimes I think he has the worst luck of any goaltender I’ve seen with all the SO, OT and other 1-goal losses he’s endured over his time here.

Maybe the luck has finally turned. Sometimes all it takes is a game or two like this weekend’s to get the scorers scoring. Travis Banga, Dennis Maxwell and Rob Voltera suddenly have four-game scoring streaks, while David Masse has points in three of four, while Herauf has three assists in two games as a Bee.

Hopefully some of that scoring vibe spills over to Adam Edinger and Nick Warriner. Edinger’s 51-goal season of 2005-06 presents some lofty expectations; at least he is one of six players on the “plus” side of the plus/minus category. Warriner finally got a goal last night by taking advantage of Tapp getting bowled over by Voltera; by the way, the replay on TV cleary shows Voltera being pushed into Tapp by Grant Clafton.

Marlon Joseph being waived comes as a bit of a surprise, but it all comes down to a numbers thing. He’s a decent player who I’d think will be picked up pretty quickly.
