Bees Fall 3-2 in Overtime

Laredo, Texas- Laredo’s Serge Dube netted the game-winner in overtime as the Bucks edged the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-2 Tuesday afternoon at the Laredo Entertainment Center.

Rio’s Travis Banga opened up the scoring 4:30 in to the first period with an unassisted, shorthanded goal. Igor Agarunov tied things up at the 14:11 mark off helpers from James Hiebert and Jeff Bes, who had two assists in the game. David Masse regained the Rio lead 2:01 later, but with 22 seconds left in the period Dube, who had two goals, tied things up for the Bucks heading into the second period. The Bucks out-shot the Bees 15-4 in the first period.

While neither team would score again in regulation, Rio goaltender Jeff Van Nynatten made some key saves to send the game into overtime. He would also set a franchise record for most saves in a period, stopping all 27 shots faced in the second.

It took just 29 seconds into overtime for Dube to score his second goal of the game, and the winner, with assists from Jeff Bes and Adam Rivet.

Laredo goaltender Kevin Beech picked up the win stopping 16 shots, while Van Nynatten stopped 51 of the 54 shots faced.

The Bees return home Friday, November 16, to take on the Austin Ice Bats, face off is set for 7:35 p.m.

Notes: Al Bergh, who plays in the local adult league, served as Van Nynatten’s backup today. David Lemanowicz is scheduled to return to the team for this weekend’s game. Bergh also served as a backup in the 2004-05 season…The previous record for most shots allowed in a period was 23, set by Odessa in the second period on March 4, 2005…The Bees scored the first goal of the game for just the second time this season. Oddly enough, they’ve lost both games.

Bucks fan here, but also a Lemanowicz fan too. I hope nothing happened bad to him.

Also, that was impressive game by your goalie. The bucks were getting to the net, but just could not get the puck passed him.

Gotta Say, Right now the only players playing to their potential are Lemanowicz and the freaking wall of Van Nynatten. We have a good team but need to find some way to start clicking. You can tell the team isn’t clicking by the horrible puck pass’s from players.
