Game Notes, Nov. 1

The Bees travel to Laredo tonight for their first test against the 6-0 Bucks. Three shutouts in six games, outscoring their opponents 37-9…I don’t how they’ll be able to keep that pace up, but if they do, look out. Personally, I’m hoping they pull a Colorado Rockies and fizzle out starting, say, tonight. The game is on ESPN Radio 1240 for those of you who will be out and about.

  • I’m baffled at how they can squeeze so much talent in under the salary cap. Must be the lush surroundings in Laredo and a commitment to “team.” And doesn’t it seem like they have, like, 10 vets? Bes, Hiebert, Simoes, Elliott, Dube, Agarunov and Weidlich seem like they’ve been there forever. They’re not all technically vets, but all that experience goes a long way. Once again, Laredo is the measuring stick for the Southern Conference. Should be an interesting weekend.
  • I watched the tape of Saturday’s game and the thing that sticks out the most is the failure to finish. It’s been a recurring problem through the first four games this season; open nets, 2-on-1’s, etc., and nothing to show for it. As soon as this team starts burying those chances, and as long as Lemanowicz and Van Nynatten keep doing what they’re doing, things will be good.

The same thing has baffled my mind for the last 3 seasons. How is it possible for so much talent to return the following season? Don”t these guys want to play elsewhere? I’m sure their talent might be used in some 3rd line of an AHL team, or even ECHL. Why do they stick around? Why is it that no matter what players Rosco gets, they are just as good as the returning players? Where does he get them from? Why do they want to come to Laredo? Is Rosco really that good of a coach? Why doesn’t Rosco get at least an AHL job??? One simple asnswer to all these questions…..MONEY and PERKS.
