game-notes-112707.pdf
Here’s this week’s game notes, nice and early for tomorrow’s game at Laredo.
Heck of a comeback win Saturday night. Ken McRae must be losing his mind in Corpus. He’s a good coach and a good guy. Speaking of Corpus, fellow blogger Greg Rajan wrote a very interesting piece about the comparisons between recruiting in college […]

GAME NOTES, Nov. 24

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

Here’s tomorrow’s game-notes-112307.pdf.
Tough game tonight; Texas wins their eighth one-goal game. They are 8-4-0 on the season. And one of those losses was a one-goal game.
I wasn’t sure whether or not Texas had a CHL Network feed; they didn’t. As far as I know, it’s Austin, Wichita and Texas as the only teams with no […]

Weekend Thoughts

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Well, for a team that couldn’t buy a goal thru the first 10 games of the season, 11 goals in two games is amazing. The addition of Lance Herauf is a big boost; what a sparkplug of a player.
Nice to see Jeff Van Nynatten pick up two wins. Sometimes I think he has the worst […]

A Warm, Fuzzy Feeling

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Ah, the weather is changing, the leaves are turning colors and the holidays are upon us. By “weather is changing” I mean it’s gone from “unbearably $#*!%$! hot” to “anyone not from here thinks it hot, but everyone here has a coat on.” And of course, the leaves have turned, just not down here.
It’s getting […]

Game Notes, Nov. 16-17

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Here’s an early look at this weekend’s game notes.
game-notes-111607.pdf
As for the Herauf-Looby trade, I like it. This team desperately needs goal scoring. Herauf was an all star last season and a rookie of the year candidate. Hopefully he can recreate last season’s success with the Bees. I’ll miss Looby being around though. He’s a good […]

Game Notes, Nov. 11

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Today’s notes game-notes-111107.pdf
So, Youngstown is the last of the undefeated in regualtions. 9-0-1 is a pretty impressive start. All over Laredo, people are taking cover because the sky is falling. Oh, I mean the Bucks lost a home game. Same thing. The Bucks really poured it on in the third period last night, but […]

Strap Those Kids In

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I arrived at HEB Plus in San Juan around 7:30 a.m. Saturday for the car seat giveaway. First thing I see? A car rolling by with a three-year-old in the front seat with no seat belt. In the back seat? An infant being held by someone. My first reaction was “are you kidding me?” Then […]

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I went in and allowed blog comments today. Thought I had done so before, but…
Once I figure out how to respond to individual comments, I’ll do so…I appreciate all the response.
One thing I’ll say quick is to look at the community page if you want to know when the guys will be out and about., […]

game-notes-110907.pdf
Make sure to visit the community events section of the website to see what’s coming up. This Saturday is the car seat giveaway. I’m amazed at how often I see kids in cars jumping around in the back seat, so I’m happy that the team is […]

Some Thoughts on the CHL Network

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I’ve been reading a lot of negative comments about the CHL Network, so I thought I’d chime in with a few observations.
1. It’s FREE.
2. Streaming live video and audio over the internet is still in its infancy. Networks are just starting to to be able to handle the bandwidth needed to pull it off properly. […]

Pink Sticks and Game Notes

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

A quick turnaround today after last night’s loss at Laredo. The bus pulled into the Dodge a little after 1 a.m. and the guys were back on the ice this morning at 10 a.m. They practiced with pink-taped sticks today and signed them after morning skate. We’ll auction those off in the lounge Saturday […]

Click to view this weekend’s game notes.
game-notes-110107.pdf
The Bees travel to Laredo tonight for their first test against the 6-0 Bucks. Three shutouts in six games, outscoring their opponents 37-9…I don’t how they’ll be able to keep that pace up, but if they do, look out. Personally, I’m hoping they pull a Colorado Rockies and […]
