Hidalgo, Texas– Mike Looby scored the lone goal for the Bees while Austin was 2-for-5 on the power play, as well as nabbing a shorthanded and empty netter to defeat the Bees 4-1 Saturday night at the Dodge Arena.

Neither team scored until almost midway through the second period when Brendan Cook notched a shorthanded goal at the 6:59 mark. The lone Bees goal came at the 13:04 mark when Looby converted on feeds by Nick Warriner and Mark O’Leary to tie things up going into the third.

Austin capitalized in the third with two power play goals and an empty netter for the win. Jamie Thompson had the game-winner, scoring on the power play at 11:23 of the third. He also had a helper on the Bats empty netter.

Bats netminder Miroslav Kopriva picked up his second win on the season with 35 saves, while Jeff Van Nynatten suffered the loss with 19 saves.

The Bees travel to Laredo to face the rival Bucks on Thursday, November 1, followed by match-ups with Corpus Christi and Laredo Friday and Saturday nights at the Dodge Arena.
