Hidalgo, Texas—David Lemanowicz made 46 saves in net and Rob Voltera scored twice to lead the Killer Bees to a 3-2 victory Friday night over the Amarillo Gorillas at the Dodge Arena.

Amarillo struck first just 1:04 into the game when Chris Lipsett connected on a pass from Shaun Arvai to put the Gorillas up. Josh Bonar tied it with up his first professional goal at 3:14 on the power play. Grant Selinger regained the Amarillo lead with his first pro goal at 8:26 on the power play, but Rob Voltera responded to tie it with his third goal in as many games at 15:24.

Voltera scored his second of the night and the eventual game-winner at 6:42 after a scramble in front of Gorilla netminder Dan McWhinney.

The Bees defense stepped things up in the third holding Amarillo to 1-for-7 on the power play, including a 6-on-3 Gorilla advantage after they pulled McWhinny and two of the Bees skaters were penalized nearing the close of the contest.

Lemanowicz came away with his second win in net for Rio while McWhinney suffered the loss with 26 saves on 29 shots.

The Bees advance to 2-0-1 on the season going into Saturday when they host the Austin Ice Bats at the Dodge Arena. Face off is set for 7:35 p.m.

I read on this site that Coach Fixter wanted to improve on the Power Play scoring. The very next game we have 2 of our 3 points from power plays.

I also noted that there were several “almost” plays that were planned, but just didn’t connect. As the season progresses and the players “Click” with each other more and more, we should begin seeing some really impressive performances from the team.

Just checked the standings and if we can get a win tonight (Saturday 27-Oct) we will be in 2nd place in the entire CHL with 7 points, trailing only Laredo with 8 points.

    Go Bees!
