The Great Locker Room Controversy
Wednesday, October 31st, 2007By now, most fans have read Brian Sandalow’s article “Bees Shrug off Locker Room Altercation.”
http://www.themonitor.com/sports/_6278___article.html/_.html
Truth is, this type of thing happens more often than you’d think. That’s not to say the Bees are a dysfunctional group; I’m talking about in general, in any locker room, with any pro (or even college) team. Put 20 […]

Sunday, October 28th, 2007By: Rachel Reida
Hidalgo, Texas– Mike Looby scored the lone goal for the Bees while Austin was 2-for-5 on the power play, as well as nabbing a shorthanded and empty netter to defeat the Bees 4-1 Saturday night at the Dodge Arena.
Neither team scored until almost midway through the second period when Brendan Cook notched […]

McNeill To Be Placed on IR
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007Coach Fixter just informed me that defenseman Dan McNeill will be placed on the 30-day injured reserve, retroactive to last Saturday. The transaction may not actually go thru for anoother day or two. McNeill was either slashed or went hard into the boards Saturday and his arm was placed in a cast after the game. […]
Re-Entry, No Re-Entry, and Yes, We Know You Can Hear Us
Monday, October 22nd, 2007Couple of quick notes, especially for season ticket holders…
–The Dodge Arena now has a new “No Re-Entry Policy.” This means once you’re in the arena, you’re in. It’s never been enforced in the past, but we’ve gotten word from a few angry fans so far this season that don’t like the new rule. For better […]
Go Sox!
Sunday, October 21st, 2007Down 3-1 in the ALCS, somehow the Red Sox have come back to advance to the World Series. Besides me, I know at least one Bees player is thrilled. I’ll be keeping tabs as things unfold, so for those of you could care less, bear with me.
Three Out Of Four A’int Bad (and other cliches)
Sunday, October 21st, 2007With opening weekend out of the way, I can say that those were two of the most entertaining games, regular season or otherwise, that I’ve seen in a while. Alot of opening week games plod along with sloppy play and a general feeling of “getting to know you.” Not these two games. That said, […]

A Cut, A Signing, More Cuts
Thursday, October 18th, 2007The Bees waived center Tristan Senior and signed defenseman Jason Slusher.
Slusher played last season with Pee Dee in the SPHL (6-2, 212) and also played two games with Trenton (ECHL). He also played briefly with New England College (with Nick Warriner and Travis Banga) before going on to Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania.
That means 20 […]
Listen in the Arena - 93.5FM
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007If you were at the game last night you may have noticed me walking around the arena, apparently lost, with an old school walkman on. I wasn’t rocking out to the best of Autograph; I was checking the new low-power radio signal in the building.
We’ve had a number of fans tell us over the past […]

Monday, October 15th, 2007by Rachel Reida
Hidalgo, Texas– In their second preseason matchup the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees fell to the Corpus Christi Rayz 3-1 Monday night at the Dodge Arena.
Both teams were scoreless midway through the game with Corpus striking first on a penalty shot by Joe Blaznek at 10:51 after Rio’s Mark O’Leary fell on the […]
Bees Make First Cuts
Sunday, October 14th, 2007Just got word that Anthony Sarno, Matt Spezza and Patrick Steinmayr have been waived. That means Monday’s game becomes a battle for one, or maybe two roster spots. Teams can carry 19 players (18 is still the maximum per game), although the Bees may go with the minimum.
The goaltending positions are set with Lemanowicz and […]
Preseason Game 1 - The ride home
Sunday, October 14th, 2007One preseason game in the books, another this Monday at the Dodge. By the time the regular season hits Day 2, the Bees and Rayz will have seen each other four times. That’s a little more Greg Rajan than I can take (Kidding GR, you’re the dean of CHL writers). Tonight was more about shaking […]

Preseason Game 1 - Travel
Saturday, October 13th, 2007On the way to Corpus Christi for tonight’s preseason game vs. the Rayz. Had a friendly visit from the Border Patrol agent at the Falfurrias checkpoint. Young guy, checked the visas and sent us on our way. Sometimes they recognize us and send us on our way, other times they do a quick check like […]
CHL vs. ECHL
Friday, October 12th, 2007Four games on the docket tonight featuring CHL vs. ECHL teams. It might only be preseason action, but I think it’ll be interesting to see how things match up. I can’t remember a preseason with so many interleague games. Youngstown/Cincy makes sense, as does Arizona/Phoenix. But Mississippi (ECHL) at Texas? Mississippi (CHL) at Florida? Makes […]
